Discover the Unique Story of
Hey House

A True Labor Of Love

A couple standing in front of a house with an artistic exterior featuring a white wall with beige and green accents, a window, and a door decorated with colorful fan designs, with the house number 301 displayed next to the door.

Hey House started as a question: what if we could create something truly different in Buena Vista? Not another corporate hotel, not another predictable stay, but a space with soul - somewhere guests could feel the difference the moment they walked through the door.

We're Heather and Mitch, and this stucco house has been our project, our challenge, and our story for the past seven months. The name itself tells our story - Hey as a warm welcome, but also a play on words-nodding to the traditional hay house. It's the blend of heritage and hospitality that defines everything we've built here.

Every decision, every vintage piece, every paint colour, it's all been ours to make. We've done the work ourselves, with our two-year-old son watching (and occasionally helping) as we brought this place back to life. Almost every item has been sourced from many states, hand picked by Heather, each item taking months to curate. We are proud of this as it has been a more eco friendly option-instead of buying new! We hope you can see our love and attention detail in every aspect of the Hey House!

A family of three sitting on a white textured couch in a cozy living room, smiling at the camera. The father has a beard and is wearing a dark patterned shirt and khaki pants. The mother has long dark hair, wearing a sleeveless dress. Their young son, sitting on his father's lap, has short blond hair, wearing a striped shirt and khaki shorts.

Why We Built This

We've always loved staying in unique places, the kind with character and charm you can't manufacture. We've spent most of our lives in building, design, and renovation, and we knew Buena Vista needed something different. A place where design and comfort aren't competing, they're working together.

Every corner here has a story. Every vintage piece was chosen with intention. We didn't curate this space to look good in photos; we built it to feel right when you're actually here. Moody colours that create warmth. Vintage finds that add character without trying too hard. Spaces that invite you to slow down, sink in, and remember what it feels like to be somewhere special.
